Silk Base Closures

Now…this was made for NATURAL girls!

If you are one of those wonderful ladies who enjoy Virgin hair but hate the heat damage from a leave out, I recommend a silk base closure!

I personally get mine from silkbaseclosures.com

but they sell them everywhere, but the ones at silk base are Malaysian..(cause I’m fancy lol).

Now these cost about 140…yea…pricey but its about a pack of hair. 3.5-4oz worth of hair. I do not add any lace adhesive to mine I cut the lace off and I sew down the sides tight so it lays flat. You can wear any part with the closure cause it has a faux scalp and I’m pretty dark and it still matches my skin. However be smart about how u cut it cause once u do Chinese bangs…logically there is no way to add more hair to it so it won’t be long enough to switch to a side or middle part.

Now I recommend you spraying the knots to keep them from shedding, if you do this will last you a while! Its great! its the closure I have in on here in this picture. Honestly its a great investment and a natural girls dream.

I always say weave is your friend…but good weave is your soulmate.

Put it like this. Lets say you get a sew in once every two months…and it costs you 40 bucks to sew it in. So you buy mediocre weave that u can’t simply wash and re-wear due to shedding and thickness and tangling. That weave costs about hmm..30 a pack. you buy two packs.

Each time you sew it in you buy a new pack so you spend $600 a year on hair.

Now if you buy good hair about lets say 3 bundles plus hair sealer which costs about  500…and that lasts about 2 good years (which it should with care) after the initial buy year you would save almost $700 dollars. And yes, it works before this new hair I bought I had the same hair for a year and a half, and it looked great until I cut it into a bob cause I thought I was a bad bitch (sigh)..

But yea, the closures are a great protective style for my natural hair to grow all lovely under. Best thing is, when it gets old, I just cut the closure piece off and sew it back on (to wear its tight and lays flat again) and it looks like I just re-did my hair. No new growth visible :))

What do you recommend as far as taking care of natural hair? What is a MUST that natural girls do?

Moisturize Moisturize Condition Condition. A big mistake that natural girls make is that they treat their hair as if its still permed. You MUST MUST MUST deep condition, cream, and moisturize. minimal heat is the way. also, most natural girls have damaged edges due to perms and the big chop usually doesn’t cover your edges if they’re already low anyway. Might seem crazy but I know plenty of natural women who have shaved the crown and it has grown back thicker and healthier. if you aren’t a fan of that,  a drop of Eucalyptus oil(just a teeny bit its strong) mixed with sulfur powder, castor oil, mink oil and Shea butter does wonders. Now if you’re desperate crushed up biotin added to the mix also does wonders for growth…but careful if you’ve never used Biotin.  Also Deva - Curl Sulfate free and harsh chem. free products work wonders!!!

Your hair + your blogs > Straight to the chase . I'm natural and I just recently purchased malaysian body wave virgin hair for a sew in . I want it to look very natural with the versatility of wearing a ponytail and up dos . I'm leaning towards the style of having leave out and having my natural hair blown out BUT I have considered the heat damage it could do to my hair depending on the need. Anyway, should I consider a full sew in which my looks less natural . or take a risk @leeave outopinion

the more natural look would be to leave hair out but if u can manage to press your hair and wrap it everyday so it doesn’t get kinky, you can pull off the leave out with no damage. however rarely that happens. I’d say get a silk base closure for the top of your hair and get a full sew in. the closure looks like a scalp…..(people mistake it for my scalp all the time). but u can pin it in high buns unless you tie a cute scarf with a bow to cover the back and sides.  At the end of the day you know your hair better than me, it might have a less inky curl pattern that can blend with the hair you buy. :)
